about

Folk? Folk-Punk? Acoustic Rock? It's hard to nail Brother Bastion's style to one genre as he is not your conventional acoustic singer songwriter.

This is his most recent album, mostly made up of songs written over the past 18-months. The songs here are about the everyday observations of living in a small former mill town in East Lancashire, UK. From cynical, sarcastic musings of the daily banality that we often encounter, to how historical events shaped the future of working class lives into the present day - This is a no-nonsense collection of songs that get straight to the point.

Using an acoustic guitar, bouzouki, acoustic bass, harmonica and drums - This is a bare-boned, raw and honest LP rooted in a love of Punk, Ska, Alt and Rock bands such as The Clash, Violent Femmes, The Specials, Ian Dury, The Pogues and Motorhead, as well as folk and country musicians like The Dubliners, Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash

Recorded entirely into a four-track recorder, then mixed and mastered by Brother Bastion himself. The goal here was to produce something lo-fi, gritty and authentic that soundtracks the dirty, run-down cobbled streets of post-industrial Britain.

about

Brother Bastion Manchester, UK

Brother Bastion is a Folk-punk singer and guitarist from Blackburn, Lancs
His songs are based on his observations of growing up in a working class town, and the social and political aspects that come with that.

Influenced by The Pogues, Dead Kennedys, Johnny Cash, Motorhead and The Clash to name a few; his lyrics are often brutally honest but delivered with an acerbic wit.
A must-see live act.
